interzum Award 2025 now open for entries: Focus on innovation and sustainability

The interzum Award 2025 has officially opened for entries, calling on exhibitors at interzum 2025 to submit groundbreaking technical developments, materials, and product innovations. Global suppliers serving the furniture and interior design industries have until 21 February 2025 to enter their projects and compete on an international stage.

This prestigious competition, now in its thirteenth year, will recognize innovative and sustainable contributions in four categories: Function & Components, Materials & Nature, Textile & Machinery, and the new category, Rethinking Resources. An expert jury of leading design and industry professionals will evaluate entries based on design quality, sustainability, and forward-thinking concepts. Each submission will be assessed for its potential to set new industry benchmarks, with the “Best of the Best” accolade reserved for standout achievements.
New Category: Rethinking Resources

This year’s competition features the Rethinking Resources category, introduced to highlight products designed with sustainability at their core. Emphasizing a circular economy approach, this category will honor designs that maximize resource lifecycles through reuse, repair, and recycling or that incorporate biobased materials from renewable sources as eco-friendly alternatives to petroleum-based products.

“In times like these, where sustainability is paramount, companies in furniture production and interior design must intensify their focus on eco-friendly materials and processes to remain competitive and future-ready,” said Maik Fischer, interzum’s director. “The interzum Award 2025 provides an opportunity for the industry to showcase its innovative solutions and commitment to responsible design.”
Showcasing Winners: Physical and Online Exhibitions

Winning entries will be celebrated at interzum 2025, which takes place from 20 to 23 May 2025 in a special showcase along the North Boulevard, offering international trade attendees an exclusive look at the latest industry advancements. Additionally, an online exhibition with descriptions and photos of the award-winning entries will go live on 20 May 2025 on the interzum website, providing a lasting resource for professionals in design, product development, and architecture.

The award is exclusively open to interzum 2025 exhibitors. Each entrant pays a one-time fee of €990 plus VAT, and multiple entries are welcome. Submissions are accepted across the following categories:
