“Come together, network, inspire” – HOMAG Treff 2024.
Under the motto “Where chips fly and inspiration lands,” HOMAG Treff 2024 captivated over 2,000 visitors from more than 40 countries. For the first time in over six years, the event was held simultaneously at two southern German locations—Schopfloch and Holzbronn. From September 24 to 27, 2024, attendees experienced live demonstrations of the latest trends and innovations in the wood industry. Beyond machines and systems, the event featured digital products, specialist exhibitors, and insightful lectures, making HOMAG Treff the perfect platform for knowledge sharing and inspiration.
For this purpose, both individual machines and complete production lines were exhibited in the factory halls in Schopfloch and Holzbronn. The numerous machine demonstrations, for example on narrow parts, soft forming and robot saws, were supplemented by exciting specialist and customer presentations on topics such as the interaction of software and machines for an efficient everyday work routine. The program was rounded off by factory tours that allowed a look behind the scenes at HOMAG.
Automation and digitisation were once again the focus. At the Schopfloch site, visitors were even greeted by an entire exhibition area just for HOMAG software, apps, digital assistants and service. The experts from SCHULER Consulting were also on site to discuss specific automation potential for manufacturing in the furniture and wood construction segment with interested parties. The focus was on measures to optimise the production process, optimize costs and target digitisation.
For the first time, a wide range of specialist exhibitors and partner companies, including BENZ Tooling, DÜRR AG, tapio, and many others, participated in the event. In essence, HOMAG Treff offered first-hand insights and an array of new products, covering everything from panel dividing and CNC processing to edging, software solutions, automation, and digitisation.
Presented live: technical highlights and innovations
This year, visitors were once again impressed by the wide range of technology highlights and innovations. They were able to gain a close-up look at the following areas:
Robot efficiency at an entry-level price: The new SAWTEQ S-300/S-400 flexTec
With the SAWTEQ S-300/S-400 flexTec robot saws, HOMAG has a proven solution for fully automatic cutting in batch sizes of 1 in its portfolio. Up to now, it was mainly larger companies that had benefited from their efficiency and the advantages of unmanned production. The shortage of skilled workers was a major challenge, especially in the trades. This is why HOMAG presented a new standard configuration of the SAWTEQ S-300/S-400 flexTec at the in-house exhibition. The further development offered robot efficiency at an entry-level price and could be expanded with technical flexibility if required – ideal for growing companies.
More convenience, less storage activity: with quickTip and intelliStore AI – leftovers
The latest development of the HOMAG storage software woodStore 8 was presented at the in-house exhibition, setting new standards in terms of ease of use and resource efficiency. QuickTip is the first: The integrated assistant supports users proactively, it provides setting recommendations and helps the machine operator to systematically exploit the storage potential. This saves valuable space and reduces energy consumption.
intelliStore AI – Leftovers also proves that intelligent software solutions increase efficiency. This means that storage movements for automatic leftover management can be reduced by up to 40%. The new development enables automatic leftover storage on defined panel stacks distributed freely in the warehouse – if required also in combination with classic leftover storage locations.
Reproduce components and create batches – now in the HOMAG productionManager!
In production, things don’t always go perfectly on the first try. However, with the ability to respond quickly and flexibly, reproducing individual parts becomes simple. The productionManager app now includes the “Reproduction” function, allowing machine operators to digitally capture components on-site and order them for reproduction, complete with part-specific details for work preparation. Speaking of work preparation, the new “Batch Formation” feature intelligently groups orders into production batches. This enables orders to be organized by time and material requirements, either for direct transfer to a cutting optimization system or export as a cutting list, depending on the need. This not only cuts costs but also reduces material usage.
intelliDivide Cutting: three new features for HOMAG cutting optimisation
True to the motto “Always one cut ahead”, HOMAG presented several new features for the intelliDivide Cutting optimization software at the in-house exhibition.
Optimize more intelligently with templates: If you frequently produce certain components in a given arrangement or want to deliberately keep components together, you can now create templates and save them as templates in the intelliDivide Cutting library.
Hand in hand with the woodStore storage software: From now on, all material data, stocks and panel remnants stored in woodStore are automatically available for the intelliDivide Cutting cutting optimization. After cutting, remnants are transferred to woodStore and offered for reuse during the next optimization.
AI-supported production time predictions: Until now, intelliDivide Cutting calculated the expected production times based on fixed assumptions. With the help of artificial intelligence (AI), the predictions are now much more accurate. This improves planning and allows for more precise calculations.
The CNC accelerator for nesting – single-axis feeder HOMAG STORETEQ F-100
The STORETEQ F-100 single-axis feeder ensures even greater efficiency and flexibility in nesting – gentle on the material, automatic and fast. It is a win-win all round – and all while requiring minimal space. It is controlled via woodStore directly on the CENTATEQ N-210 or N-510 CNC machining center. This interaction creates a complete craft cell – including manual waste management. The portal uses a vacuum suction device to pick up the next panel just-in-time from the stacking area next to or behind the CNC machining center, rotates the material by up to 90° if necessary and places it on the roller conveyor. Everything is fully automatic.
The edge jump for craftsmen: LOOPTEQ O-400 and EDGETEQ S-200
Modern industrial technology at trade conditions: This is what HOMAG offers with the new LOOPTEQ O-400 portal return system and the EDGETEQ S-200. Two solutions that represent a quantum leap in edge processing. The newly developed LOOPTEQ O-400 impresses with its high performance and extremely compact design. Thanks to its high level of automation and the combination of stacking system and workpiece return system, it increases productivity in production in the long term – with ergonomic and economical operation by just one person.
The EDGETEQ S-200 also impresses with the latest technology from the industrial segment. The smallest HOMAG edge banding machine already has highlights such as a servo edge feed, flexible magazine height adjustment and vacuum suction-based strip separation. “There is a new application unit that enables the adhesive to be changed in under three minutes. This simplifies and speeds up production considerably.
Even better drilling and dowelling: DRILLTEQ D-110
With the DRILLTEQ D-110, HOMAG presented a new entry-level CNC that has exactly two tasks: horizontal drilling and dowelling. And it does this particularly effectively. This is ensured by 3 individually accessible drilling spindles and space for up to 4 workpieces. Practical: With the woodWop 8.1 CNC programming software, the height and depth of the drilling and dowelling operations can be preset. These are then automatically called up during the processing process. The dowelling technology of the DRILLTEQ D-110 has already proven itself many times in higher HOMAG series.
