After HOMAG was awarded the title “Factory of the Year” many people want to visit their award-winning plant. In the last two weeks alone, four small groups visited HOMAG Plattenaufteiltechnik GmbH in Holzbronn.
Apart from the Industrial Engineering from Schopfloch and the colleagues from the DÜRR APT, also their customer SEDUS and the machine manufacturer Innio from Austria – accompanied by A.T. Kearney – wanted to see our plant in Holzbronn. During the plant tours, the topics shop floor management, sustainable process improvements, CIP workshop, the newly introduced TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) philosophy and their cycled assembly lines met with particular interest.
As a valuable source of advice for their DÜRR colleagues with regard to the introduction of their cycled assembly or as a pioneer in the HOMAG Group in the field of visualization at the pre-assembly workstation (use of our innovative intelliGuide), they were able to inspire many new ideas.
Daniel Werhahn, Managing Director at SEDUS Systems, summarized his visit in Holzbronn as follows: “A day at your company replaces an expensive lean seminar.”
Learning from a common philosophy
The visitors from Austria, who were accompanied by A.T. Kearney, had already been able to gain experience with the lean philosophy in the past, as they were among the winners of the “Factory of the Year” award in 2016. During an intensive exchange of experience, many aspects of lean, value-added-oriented production were gathered. The next step: an exchange of experience in Austria on the topic of digitization.
