Sveza Group-Guangzhou Design Week 2025

The global push for “human-centered design” found a powerful advocate in the birch plywood sector this month. Sveza Group, a global leader in birch plywood production, further firmly established its strategic foothold in the East by partnering with its official Chinese distributor, Zhimu Wood Industry Co., Ltd., at the prestigious Guangzhou Design Week 2025.

Held from December 5 to 8 in the vibrant hub of Guangzhou, the event is widely recognised as one of Asia’s most influential platforms for furniture manufacturing, interior architecture, and high-end design. This year, the exhibition focused heavily on the intersection of luxury and environmental empathy—a trend perfectly suited for the natural versatility of birch plywood.

As the Chinese market evolves, there is a palpable shift away from synthetic aesthetics toward materials that prioritise health, renewability, and tactile comfort. Guangzhou Design Week 2025 placed a spotlight on the “Dear Design” movement—an initiative advocating for spaces that are not only visually stunning but also emotionally resonant and sustainable.

Sveza’s birch plywood has emerged as a frontrunner in this premium segment. Known for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and uniform grain, the material is increasingly sought after by designers looking to bridge the gap between industrial durability and organic beauty.

The joint booth hosted by Sveza and Zhimu Wood Industry featured an interactive exhibition area designed to engage the senses of architects and manufacturers alike. The showcase highlighted several key applications tailored for the high-end market:

The collaboration with Zhimu Wood Industry is a cornerstone of Sveza’s long-term strategy to localise its presence in China. By working with a distributor that understands the specific nuances of the Chinese design community, Sveza ensures its products meet local regulatory standards and aesthetic preferences.

Vladimir Raymuyev, Sveza’s Chief Representative in China, emphasised the strategic importance of the event:

“For us, participating in Guangzhou Design Week was an important step in strengthening our presence in China. We see clear market interest in natural materials and are well positioned to offer solutions tailored to the premium segment. Our aim is to build long-term recognition of birch plywood as a contemporary, sustainable choice for both residential and commercial interiors.”

The birch plywood industry is currently navigating a transformative period. With global construction and furniture markets projected to grow at a CAGR of approximately 4.5% through 2033, the demand for verified, eco-friendly timber is at an all-time high.

China, as a global leader in furniture exports and domestic urbanisation, represents a critical theater for this growth. The “green building” mandates in major Chinese cities are pushing developers to swap out traditional plastics and composites for carbon-sequestering wood products.

What sets Sveza’s offerings apart in the crowded Guangzhou exhibition was the technical rigor of their products. Visitors were particularly interested in:

  1. Low emission standards: Plywood that meets E0.5 and CARB ULEF requirements, crucial for indoor air quality in luxury homes.
  2. Moisture resistance: Specialised “Exterior” grades that maintain structural integrity in the humid climates of Southern China.
  3. Visual grade: High-quality face veneers (Grade B/BB) that allow designers to use the wood in its raw, natural state without the need for heavy laminates.
