GROTEFELD brings game changing tools to enrich woodworking and manufacturing industry. With its new “hydrocollets” for tracing spindles and angular heads, GROTEFELD GmbH is looking not only to improve concentricity, but also to reduce vibrations and make tool changeovers far faster.
Founded in 1963, one of the leading unit suppliers GROTEFELD GmbH has been focusing on developing premium components geared to specific applications since the mid-1970s. Although digitalization is never far from customers’ minds these days, they’re also as keen as ever to speed up production processes and improve quality. The unit specialist therefore recently launched an innovative upgrade option in the shape of “hydrocollets” for angular milling heads and tracing spindles.
In CNC machines and machining centres, angular heads and tracing spindles perform the important tasks of holding and driving various tools. Collets ensure a secure hold and enable these tools to be changed. With a view to optimizing machining and achieving fast tool changeovers, GROTEFELD has now extended the options for its G06, G10 and G16 angular milling heads and the tracing spindles in its GT05 series.
The conventional collets used to date are now being joined by newly launched “hydrocollets”. The benefits of hydraulic control include easier tool changes, exceptional concentricity and excellent tool damping, because the hydraulic expansion range is designed to significantly reduce disruptive vibrations whatever the rotational speed. The new “hydrocollets”, which are currently available in diameters ranging from 5 to 20 millimeters, are intended for all standard machining centre speeds. According to GROTEFELD, unlimited functionality is assured at up to 20,000 revolutions per minute. There are plans to extend the portfolio to include additional angular heads and the associated series.
