Sustainable furniture in Europe and Italy

Wood is the ultimate furnishing material since it is adaptable, durable, “warm,” and comes in a variety of species for different solutions. However, there is still a significant chance that wood today comes from unreliable or illegal sources. Tracing the materials back to the forest can be challenging since supply chains are frequently intricate, despite the fact that a growing number of nations and areas have passed laws outlawing the trading and use of illegally obtained timber and its derivatives. With advantages for the environment, the economy, and society, wood sustainability is simple to secure thanks to FSC certification of supply chain standards.

Because of this, the furniture industry has been increasingly interested in certification. In Europe, there are 5,382 FSC active certificates in 2022 (an increase of 4.6% from 2021). Poland (905), the United Kingdom (760), Italy (631) and Germany are among the nations with the most certifications (425). Read more news on FSC
