Forest Owner’s Reception is back after a pandemic induced ‘forced break’ for two years. The industry is gearing up for the reunion in Berlin on January 19, 2023, with over 1000 guests from politics, business and associations to be welcomed at the Reception of Forest Owners in Berlin. The event will be presided over by Carl-Anton Prinz zu Waldeck und Pyrmont, president of the Hessian Forest Owners’ Association, and Prof. Dr. Andreas Bitter, president of AGDW. The 2023 Forest Owner’s Reception will be co-hosted by AGDW and the Hessian Association.

Gear up for a grand show at LIGNA 2023

Numerous members of the Bundestag and state legislatures, association and business representatives, as well as numerous forest owners from all over Germany are among the notable guests, along with representatives from the federal ministries and the Hessian Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Agriculture, and Consumer Protection. The budget committee of the Bundestag has already approved the long-awaited concept for rewarding ecosystem services. As a result, ecosystem services through sustainable forestry management will be rewarded for the first time this year. The owners will be provided with funding amounting to 200 million euros for production-integrated climate protection and nature conservation. AGDW President Prof. Dr. Andreas W. Bitter comments that for them, this is a milestone with a view to future rewards for the positive effects of the forest on the climate and biodiversity.

In negotiations with the German Bundestag and the Bundesrat, the ministries, the economy, science, and in committees of other associations, the AGDW – Die Waldeigeneigner advocates the interests of private, municipal, and corporate woods. Interests are mostly represented at the national level, but they are also represented at the European and global levels. Additionally, the association participates in several institutions. As members of the International Alliance for Family Forestry IFFA and the Central Association of the European Forest Owners’ Association CEPF, forest owners largely influence European and global forest policy.
