The ‘La Carpintería’ space will feature real work projects with materials, equipment and machinery from the FIMMA + Maderalia exhibitors. ‘La Carpintería’ in collaboration with PROFEMADERA will have its own stand that will allow students and teachers to work and experience demonstrations in the particular space.
Professionals who will visit the long-awaited 40th edition of FIMMA + Maderalia from May 14 to 17 will be able to see firsthand what the real work of a carpentry is like. They will be able to do it through an innovative demonstration space called, precisely named ‘La Carpintería ‘ . A group of students and teachers from training degrees related to wood will exemplify the process of making kit furniture during the fair. Students on carpentry-related courses and their teachers will demonstrate how kit furniture is made.
‘La Carpintería’ will be one of the great focuses of attraction of the next edition of FIMMA + Maderalia. This initiative, which takes birth from the fair itself, will have the collaboration of the Association of Wood and Furniture Teachers, PROFEMADERA. It will also have the support of the exhibiting companies which will provide materials, equipment and machinery for the execution of the work.
This is an initiative to create a carpentry shop where, students and teachers will work on the construction of pieces of kit furniture. These will equip a playroom space and will be later donated to an NGO In line with the RSC’s policy.
The objective behind this is to show the latest innovations in the work processes that are being developed in the present carpentry shops. It will also aim to raise awareness in the sector of training and training future wood professionals.
PROFEMADERA stand
It will not be the only activity in which this active association of teaching professionals in the sector takes part. In this sense, PROFEMADERA will once again have a unique stand at the next edition of FIMMA + Maderalia.
Each year the stand becomes a meeting and reference point for teachers, students and visiting professionals who visit the fair to gain more experience and knowledge.
The design for the next one was chosen from eleven submitted for the national competition PROFEMADERA launched.
The winning design, which will be built at FIMMA + Maderalia, is by the team at IES Cotes Baixes, in Alcoi, and is titled ‘Roble’ (‘Oak’). The stand has been designed to be arched, based on the curvature of tree bark, whilst the details of how the materials are put together, and the routing, give the setting a very natural feel.
