Evolutionary Zero furniture board from Koskisen

Zero furniture board produced by Koskisen is one of the chosen building solutions that promotes environmental and resource efficiency in the wood products sector. Zero is a completely new kind of furniture board in which the fossil binder has been replaced with a renewable wood-based binder, lignin.

This product is one of the world’s first fully wood-based furniture boards. Pointing out the exclusiveness of the product, Product Manager Eemi Valjakka said, “Zero is the world’s first fully wood-based furniture board. The carbon dioxide emissions of wood-based materials are clearly lower compared to non-renewable materials. They also bind carbon for decades to come.”

Valjakka also stated the fact that Koskisen’s Zero product family finely satisfies the growing demand for bio-based solutions both in Finland and in export markets. The Zero furniture board is super efficient and can be used in various end uses, such as furniture, cabinetry, and laminate floors and for various other furniture applications.

The wood raw materials that are used for the production of Zero board come from the side streams of Koskisen’s manufacturing processes. Winning the new product competition at the Puu 2023 fair, this environment-friendly Zero board is super versatile and is easy to work with. Its strength level in different directions is constant while it insulates sound well. This innovative product remains environmentally friendly all through its life cycle.
