Elmia Wood highlighted Husqvarna and STIHL, two recognisable show pillars that are as vital to the experience as the recently cut wood paths that go through the wooded exhibition grounds. Husqvarna and STIHL have been distinctive cornerstones of Elmia Wood since the inaugural edition in 1975. Professionals and hobbyists alike are drawn to their spectacular, interactive displays, demonstrating their powerful presence.
At Husqvarna’s booth, visitors encountered a new generation of battery-powered chainsaws designed with ergonomics and cutting-edge smart features in mind. Meanwhile, STIHL presented a lightweight yet robust professional-grade model, engineered to tackle demanding forestry work with increased fuel efficiency and precision. As attendees continue to explore the expansive fairgrounds, these two industry leaders remain must-visit destinations, embodying the spirit of Elmia Wood: tradition, innovation, and the relentless pursuit of forestry excellence. Husqvarna Product Specialist Lasse Strandell greets guests to the test area, where they can test out a range of models. “There’s been a lot of interest in testing. Our initial log pile ran out already on the first day, so we had to bring in more wood,” he expresses with a smile.
Professional performance with small power
The new 564 XP® G is what visitors are most excited to test. “This is a brand-new chainsaw that will be fully launched this autumn – but it’s making its premiere here at Elmia Wood! A revolutionary 60cc saw developed for forestry professionals and arborists who want groundbreaking performance. It combines the compact size and maneuverability of a 50cc saw with the power of a 70cc model.” With a revamped engine and a freshly developed fuel injection system, the 564 XP® G has a unique blend of trailblazing technology that provides immediate acceleration and great productivity all day long. With simpler beginnings and lower vibration levels that lessen physical strain, the user experience has also been improved. Husqvarna’s Short-stroke idea, which enhances balance and improves operator ergonomics, is also incorporated into the saw’s construction.
STIHL displays its flagship 60cc saw and introduces new fuel
The feelings are similar for Clara Bergström, STIHL’s Product Manager for the professional segment. “Our new MS 400 is a 60cc professional chainsaw where the power-to-weight ratio is hard to beat in its class. It feels compact when limbing and powerful when felling,” she explains. Additionally, it’s the little adjustments that have a big impact. “Minor adjustments that have a big impact. For example, the handle has been reshaped to be slightly rounder than before – something you’ll appreciate after using it for a while.” Along its length, the saw’s underbelly has likewise been smoothed off. “This makes it easier to limb and contributes to a perfectly balanced saw overall. It’s easy being a product manager when you get to showcase a saw like this at Elmia Wood.”
Is there anything else that visitors are interested in?
“Our first truly professional battery-powered clearing saw for forestry, the FSA 400 K, has been a major talking point. And we’re also launching MotoMix BIO – a new fuel suitable for both 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines. Parts of the fossil-based raw materials in the production process have been replaced with renewable alternatives, following an ISCC PLUS-certified mass balance approach. According to our internal life cycle assessments, this can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 74%,” comments Clara Bergström.
