El-Watch describes itself as a central Norwegian technology firm with headquarters in Rindal and Trondheim. The company develops and manufactures wireless communication and energy-efficient electronics, providing numerous solutions that are highly advantageous for the wood industry. At LIGNA 2025, the Scandinavians introduced “Neuron sensors,” a fully in-house platform that comprises wireless and durable sensors, a gateway, a cloud solution, and an application, providing a comprehensive solution that is especially well-suited for industrial applications.

In sawmills, dryers are essential, particularly when it comes to producing high-quality sawn timber. Dryers must be operated efficiently to prevent production bottlenecks, which can result in large losses. For market conformance, especially for construction lumber, adherence to moisture content norms is also crucial. One major difficulty is tracking dryer efficiency. This is since sawmill operations frequently experience a bottleneck caused by dryers. Production might halt due to mechanical issues, inefficiencies, or malfunctions, which can cost businesses revenue and cause delivery delays. Therefore, keeping an eye on these crucial systems is essential to sustaining maximum output and guaranteeing that moisture content requirements are continuously fulfilled.

With their Neuron vibration sensors, the Norwegians are currently tackling this problem. For harsh industrial settings like sawmills, El-Watch’s Neuron Vibration RMS HT sensor was specifically designed. The battery-operated wireless sensor sends real-time data to the Neuron Cloud while keeping an eye on temperature and vibrations. A three-axis acceleration sensor is used to record the effective acceleration with a resolution of 1 mg and a range of 0 to 12 g RMS. From negative 40 degrees Celsius to plus 105 degrees Celsius, temperatures are monitored. The IP67 housing is appropriate for severe settings because it is waterproof and dust-proof.
