EGGER Group takes another step on way to Net Zero

EGGER Group took another step towards its Net Zero target. The company’s plant in Unterradlberg (Austria) has successfully installed a so-called heat exchanger. By this way the plant is able to further substitute the use of natural gas with renewable energy from biomass.

This fresh step is also to optimise the technical process of the plant. For the plant, this technical optimisation means – even more renewable energy, gas-free chipboard production, reduction of the plant’s annual fossil CO2 emissions by 10,000 tonnes.

EGGER Group has always aimed at climate-friendly and sustainable expansion of its business. It manufactures products from the central raw material in active climate protection: Wood. Wood binds CO2 – an advantage that also comes into play in our wood-based materials. However, our responsibility for climate protection does not end with the manufacture of sustainable products. As a manufacturing company, EGGER always keep a close eye on the greenhouse gas emmisions that occur in its value chain.

Further shedding a light on the company’s aim, Thomas Leissing, CFO & Speaker of the Group Management said, “As a wood-based material manufacturer, our business model has always been linked to environmental and climate protection. We therefore see it as our duty to reduce our climate-impacting emissions. In this way, we want to ensure that we can also enable future generations to live and work sustainably with our climate-friendly wood-based materials.”

With its commitment to the Net Zero target by 2050, it is committed to reducing its climate-impacting greenhouse gas emissions in line with the Paris Climate Agreement. EGGER has developed a comprehensive Group-wide approach to steadily reduce its climate-impacting emissions to Net Zero by 2050. The company is clearly focusing in reduction, not compensation outside its value chain. This particular new achievement again aligns with EGGER Group’s commitment to climate protection and its NetZero target by 2050.
