EGGER Group, a global leader in wood-based materials manufacturing, has reached an impressive 99.99% uptime across its global operations, leveraging SIOS LifeKeeper for Linux. This high availability (HA) solution, provided by SIOS Technology Corp., has ensured that EGGER’s mission-critical systems remain operational, safeguarding essential applications across 22 manufacturing sites in 11 countries.
As EGGER continues to expand its footprint worldwide, the need for uninterrupted operations is more critical than ever. The company operates over 5,000 virtual machines and 350 physical servers supporting complex systems, including inventory management, logistics, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications. These systems are built on SAP, Oracle, and custom applications, making reliability essential for EGGER’s business processes.
“SIOS LifeKeeper has been instrumental in maintaining our uptime,” said Oliver W., Manager of the Datacenter Operations team at EGGER Group. “With nearly zero downtime, our system robustness has significantly improved, and the solution is easy to use and nearly maintenance-free. I can’t even remember when we last encountered a bug.”
EGGER’s IT team sought a high availability solution more than 20 years ago to meet the demands of its growing global presence. After evaluating several alternatives, the team selected SIOS LifeKeeper for its seamless support for both off-the-shelf and custom services in a Linux-based infrastructure. The solution’s reliability, scalability, and simplicity stood out, enabling EGGER to minimize system complexity while maintaining optimal performance.
A standout feature of the SIOS solution is the Application Recovery Kit (ARK), which allows EGGER to customize HA protection for its specific applications and services. With a user-friendly graphical interface (GUI) and powerful command-line tools, SIOS LifeKeeper has simplified configuration, reduced errors, and streamlined system management across EGGER’s two-node virtualized clusters.
“EGGER’s long-term success with SIOS LifeKeeper is a testament to the platform’s scalability, reliability, and adaptability,” said Masahiro Arai, COO of SIOS Technology. “We are proud to support EGGER’s global operations, ensuring that they can continue to grow without worrying about system downtime.”
SIOS LifeKeeper not only protects EGGER from downtime but also allows for maintenance and upgrades without the need to take systems offline. This flexibility is crucial as EGGER continues to innovate and evolve its infrastructure strategy, with SIOS LifeKeeper remaining a critical component of its ongoing digital transformation.
