Standardkessel Baumgarte GmbH is happy to partner with EGGER Group to establish a biomass CHP plant at the heart of the St. Johann. The heavy lift of the drum marks the completion of a particularly demanding phase on their construction site in St. Johann. Before that, large superheater modules had already been installed – under tight spatial conditions and with challenging weather influences.
Especially in a mountainous environment like this, forward-looking planning is crucial: weather windows must be used efficiently, and every move must be perfectly timed. Any delay can quickly impact the tightly scheduled construction sequence. When everything has to fit – from the first lift to the final installation – it takes a well-coordinated team with experience, precision, and dedication. The result: the heavy lifting phase is successfully completed, and the heart of the boiler is precisely in place.
The new biomass-fired combined heat and power (CHP) plant at EGGER Group’s site in St. Johann will supply heat and electricity for internal use – as well as district heating for the surrounding area. The plant combines an air-cooled pusher-type grate with an injection firing system and operates with a vertical four-pass boiler. This design ensures high efficiency and low emissions – a key element in EGGER’s strategy to fossil fuel use towards zero and achieve Net Zero by 2050.

Made using sawmill by-products, recycled wood and round wood, Protect, Peel Clean Xtra and P5 are all produced at EGGER’s plant in Hexham, Northumberland. By sourcing locally and using waste wood materials, the EGGER Advanced Structural Flooring range offers a carbon negative solution, as the materials used to produce the board store more carbon than is required to produce it. For a home-grown structural floor, look no further than EGGER.
