DIEFFENBACHER and Unilin Technologies, the intellectual property arm of Unilin, have announced a new collaboration to further commercialise “Osiris”, Unilin’s cutting-edge fibreboard recycling technology. This partnership strengthens both companies’ commitment to sustainability in the flooring and panel industries, by enabling the comprehensive recycling of wood fibreboards such as MDF, HDF, THDF, and wood fibre insulation boards, including post-consumer materials.
Under the agreement, DIEFFENBACHER will become the preferred global partner for integrating Osiris machinery and equipment into fibreboard production processes. The Osiris technology uses a steam explosion process to recover high-quality recycled fibres from waste fibreboards, offering an environmentally friendly and cost-effective solution to meet the industry’s growing demand for sustainable wood fibre supplies.
The Osiris system has already been successfully validated through the Osiris 1.0 pilot installation at Unilin’s Bazeilles plant, operational since 2022. In addition to promoting a circular economy within the industry, the technology presents a compelling business case with significant return on investment by reducing the production costs of new fibreboards.
