Combilift has once again made its mark on the global stage, securing two prestigious accolades at the UK Materials Handling Association (UKMHA) Archie Awards. Held in Birmingham on Saturday, September 14th, the event saw Combilift triumph in two categories, winning Ergonomic Innovation of the Year and Manufacturer Product Innovation of the Year. Competing against some of the leading names in material handling, Combilift’s innovative approach continues to earn industry recognition.
The Combi-CB70E, a standout in Combilift’s range, was awarded for its revolutionary ergonomic design. This 7-ton electric-powered multidirectional counterbalance forklift is the shortest of its kind, offering exceptional efficiency when handling long loads in confined spaces. The forklift features a spacious cab with floor-to-ceiling panoramic glass, delivering excellent visibility for operators and improving overall safety.
A key feature of the Combi-CB70E is its Auto Swivel Seat, which automatically pivots 15 degrees left or right, depending on the vehicle’s direction, minimizing driver strain, particularly during reverse operations. The truck is also equipped with a gas strut suspension system, commonly found in larger industrial machinery, and large super-elastic tires, ensuring smooth operation even on rough terrain or during long shifts. With Combilift’s independent electric traction system, the CB70E provides 100% traction control, improving safety and precision when transporting long, heavy loads, regardless of ground conditions.
In addition to the ergonomic award, Combilift’s Manufacturer Product Innovation of the Year accolade was awarded to the Combi LC Blade. This cutting-edge machine was specifically developed to tackle the logistical challenges of transporting offshore wind turbine blades, which can reach up to 115 meters in length and weigh as much as 70 tonnes. Combilift’s innovative solution, created in partnership with Siemens Gamesa, ensures unparalleled safety and stability during transport, setting a new standard for handling these massive components.
Combilift’s CEO and Co-Founder, Martin McVicar, expressed his pride, stating: “We are thrilled to have won two prestigious awards at this year’s Archies, bringing our total to 12. Competing against such high-caliber companies highlights the dedication and innovation of our team, which continues to push the boundaries of the material handling industry.”
These latest wins add to Combilift’s momentum, following their success at the UK EMA Awards in London, where they were recognised with the Design Team of the Year award for the LC Blade and the Industry Leader Award, acknowledging McVicar’s leadership. These achievements bring the Irish manufacturer’s total to four awards within two weeks, further cementing their position as an industry leader in material handling solutions.
As Combilift continues to innovate, the company embodies the words of Archimedes: “Give me a lever long enough and a fulcrum on which to place it, and I shall move the world,” demonstrating their ongoing commitment to transforming material handling logistics.
