Celbi unique system increases production efficiency

 Thursday, February 10, 2022

Celbi recently implement a unique system to increases efficiency in the pulp production process.  Celbi, the biorefinery of Altri Group known for the production of cellulosic fibers, has a unique wood cooking system in the world that allows it to make the most of all the raw material, thus increasing its production capacity and reducing the consumption of wood.

The unique optimised system is crafted by Andritz under the support of a multidisciplinary team from the Altri Group, was implemented in the wood cooking process at the Leirosa unit, in Figueira da Foz. This technology makes it possible to recover fine waste resulting from the wood conversion process, guaranteeing the use of the totality of the raw material and maximizing the profitability of the process.

This new system that is in the operation process is expected to increase the efficiency of this unit, allowing Altri to reinforce its daily production capacity by around 2.5%. This project is in line with the Altri group’s commitment to investing in Innovation, Sustainability and Continuous Improvement associated with the Circular Economy.

José de Pina, CEO of Altri, points out that “the Altri Group is constantly investing in its units. This new system, which is already fully operational, is proof of that, allowing Celbi to increase its already high efficiency and achieve new pulp production records”.
