Carpentry specialist Schroll transforms workplace into wellness & living showcase in Bavaria

The carpentry workshop led by Schroll Carpentry Workshop (Bavaria) is dedicated to creating a sense of well-being. Whether in the sauna or the living room, the team combines individual planning, cutting-edge technology and traditional craftsmanship. The company head, Franz Schroll, together with his two daughters, Katja and Lena, orchestrates the creation of unique “favourite places” – spaces where people especially enjoy spending time. And with their brand-new company headquarters at the Egerer industrial park near Chieming on Lake Chiemsee, the family business proves that the workplace can also be such a favourite place. In the light-filled, welcoming spaces, employees, customers and visitors feel completely at ease.

The move to the new building marks a pivotal milestone in Schroll’s corporate history. The business was founded in 1991 by Franz Schroll, and for a time a converted hay-loft served as the workshop. Perhaps the love for cozy warmth with alpine flair stems from those early days. In any case, the boss built his first sauna in 1999 and was initially ridiculed for it – but the homemade wellness facilities became a hit. Today, Schroll saunas are heating up guests in renowned hotels in Sölden, Munich and Oberbozen, as well as homeowners seeking warmth in their own residences.

High-quality wellness and sauna areas for tourism and private use are the bedrock of the carpentry business. But Schroll has also earned a strong reputation for custom-made living solutions and bespoke kitchens. In addition, complete interior design concepts for high-end holiday apartments and private homes are created. “Our customers receive complete interior design concepts in 3D, which they can even use for advertising purposes before completion,” Katja Schroll notes.

Thoughtfully planned workplace and showroom

Providing space for the various departments and presenting them with style was one reason the Schroll family undertook the major construction project. The other reason was their desire to offer attractive workplaces to their roughly 30 employees. In just eleven months of construction, they succeeded in bringing these objectives together under one long roof – one where coatings from their long-standing paint partner, ADLER, play a defining, colour-defining role. And just like in the rest of the building.

A riot of colours and material detail

“We treated all the furnishings in the offices, the entrance area, the showrooms, and even the restroom, all made of wild oak, with Arova spray stain in the trendy colour Sand Oak and finished it with Aduro Natural Matt,” reveals Katja Schroll. For the impressive honeycomb-shaped ceiling made of knotty spruce, they used Arova Alpin Trend stain in the colour Rosi. In the small lounge that serves as a team area, Aduro Antiscratch in the ultra-matt sheen G05 ensures durability. And the fine ash wood of the showroom kitchen is given its beautifully light look again with Arova spray stain – this time in the colour White – and Aduro Natural Matt. And the roof? The rafters on the exterior were coated with Lignovit Color STQ in RAL 7016 anthracite grey, and the sandwich panels of the underside were finished with Aviva Acryl-Color in the same colour as the frost apron in the workshop area – where, under the best conditions, after detailed consultation in the beautiful showrooms and professional planning in the inviting offices, many new favourite spots are now being created.

Wellness, living and craftsmanship in harmony

The new headquarters not only demonstrates the company’s design philosophy but also embodies it. Light, space and materials combine to create a setting where wellbeing is central. Employees enjoy a working environment that mirrors the custom living solutions they design for others. Visitors and customers experience first-hand the kind of ambience that the business aims to bring into homes and holiday apartments.

Wellness & living are at the core of the enterprise. From saunas that serve hotels and residences, to custom-kitchens and full-suite interior solutions, the Schroll workshop has positioned itself as a premium partner in the high-end carpentry and interior design market. The distinct shift into a purpose-built facility emphasises the firm’s commitment to both process and product excellence.

Business growth meets design ambition

While craftsmanship and aesthetics are key, the move also supports business growth. Having all functions under one roof – production units, showrooms, design and administrative spaces – streamlines workflow and enhances customer experience. The display of finishes, the presentation of design options in 3D, and the immediate access to manufacturing all enhance Schroll’s value proposition.

Clients see not only a finished product but the entire journey from concept to execution. Schroll’s integration of technology, design and traditional workshop methods ensures that bespoke projects – whether a private home wellness suite, a high-end kitchen or a custom apartment fit-out – are executed with precision and character.

Setting new standards in a niche market

In an era where bespoke interiors and wellness solutions are increasingly sought after, Schroll has carved a niche in alpine-inspired luxury carpentry. The firm’s strategy emphasises authenticity, high-quality materials and bespoke planning. Its new headquarters demonstrates that even the workplace can become a “favourite place” – reinforcing that design, wellbeing and craft are not just for clients’ homes but part of the company culture itself.

Outlook

With the new facility operational, the company is well positioned for future growth. Demand for customised wellness and interior solutions continues to rise among private homeowners, holiday-home owners and boutique hotel operators. Schroll’s commitment to design excellence, combined with the functional optimisation offered by the new building, provides a strong platform for further expansion.

Across Bavaria and beyond, the business is now showing that the marriage of tradition, technology and wellbeing can deliver not just beautiful interiors, but meaningful places – for living, for wellness and for work.
