Calldene Structural Timber Solutions, a key player in Southern England’s timber engineering sector, has made a significant leap in strengthening its operations. The company, renowned for its experience in structural timber solutions, has invested in its first dedicated truss delivery vehicle at its Dover Trussed Roof Company site. This move marks a strategic development aimed at enhancing delivery capabilities, improving customer service, and boosting product availability throughout the region.
As part of a wider expansion effort, the new logistics investment is set to play a pivotal role in the company’s growing reach across Southern England. With the region seeing an increase in demand for Calldene’s trusses, this investment ensures that the company can meet these needs more effectively, contributing to its ongoing business growth.
The newly acquired 18-tonne truck comes with advanced features that enhance the company’s transport capabilities. Most notably, it has the ability to turn trusses upside down during transport, increasing the maximum height of deliverable trusses from 4.0 meters to 4.7 meters. This addition allows Calldene to broaden its product offering, now delivering not only trusses but also Posi-Joists and panels, providing greater flexibility for customers.
Les Fuller, Managing Director at Calldene Structural Timber Solutions, highlighted the importance of this investment in the company’s operations. “This investment is about strengthening our delivery capability and ensuring our customers receive an even more reliable service as we continue to grow,” Fuller said. “Having a dedicated vehicle gives us greater control, flexibility, and the ability to respond quicker to demand.”
The new truck will primarily operate from Calldene’s Dover Trussed Roof Company near Canterbury, but it will also serve customers from the Triad Timber Components site in Lancing, further improving the company’s regional coverage. Keith Martindale, General Manager at Dover Trussed Roof Company, added that this truck would significantly enhance their delivery capacity and flexibility, particularly in the transport of larger and more varied products.
Martindale explained, “The new truck is a major step forward for us. It gives us the capacity and flexibility to deliver a wider range of products, while improving what we can safely transport in terms of size and height. Ultimately, it helps us better support customers’ requirements on-site.”
This investment in logistics is part of Calldene’s broader commitment to improving its service offerings. In addition to the new vehicle, the company will continue to rely on third-party partnerships to further enhance its logistics capabilities. These partnerships will ensure that the company can maintain its just-in-time delivery model, enabling it to meet the demands of customers across Southern England and beyond.
The move reflects Calldene Structural Timber Solutions’ ongoing dedication to innovation and customer satisfaction, both of which are central to its expansion plans. As the demand for timber engineering solutions continues to rise, the company is positioning itself to provide unmatched service, with improved delivery systems, an expanded product range, and greater responsiveness to customer needs.
With this new investment, Calldene is set to reinforce its position as one of the South East’s leading structural timber engineering specialists, offering enhanced capabilities that will benefit customers for years to come.
