Austrian furniture fittings manufacturer Blum has announced the full integration of its long-standing Danish distribution partner OL Beslag (OLB) into the Group. The move became effective on 1 July 2026 and represents a significant strategic development for the company’s operations in Denmark and the wider Scandinavian market.
The decision follows more than four decades of successful collaboration between the two organisations. During this period, Blum and OL Beslag have worked together to establish and expand the Danish furniture fittings market while building long-term relationships with customers across the furniture manufacturing sector.
The integration has been positioned as the next stage of an established partnership. Existing strengths will be retained. Additional opportunities are expected to be created through closer alignment with the international capabilities of the Blum Group.
According to the company, the Danish market has matured into one of its strongest regional operations. It has been supported by a well-developed local network and a customer-focused approach. These strengths will continue to be developed under the new organisational structure.
Dietmar Rathbauer, Regional Director Europe West at Julius Blum, said the integration reflects the long-standing success of the partnership while creating a stronger platform for future growth.
He explained that both organisations have achieved consistent results over several decades. The objective is to preserve the successful local business model while benefiting from the wider resources and expertise available within the global Blum organisation.
Rathbauer added that combining a strong local presence with the international reach of the Group would create additional value for customers, business partners and the wider furniture industry.
The transition also supports long-term strategic planning.
A generational change in OL Beslag’s leadership has created an opportunity to secure the company’s future direction. The integration provides a structured succession plan while ensuring business continuity for employees, customers and suppliers.
Kristen Søndergaard, Managing Director of OL Beslag, described the company as much more than a commercial enterprise. He said the business has been built on trusted relationships, reliability and shared values over many years.
According to Søndergaard, finding a long-term solution that protected these foundations was an important priority. He expressed confidence that Blum would continue to uphold the company’s culture, customer relationships and business principles while supporting future growth.
The integration has been developed following many years of close cooperation between both businesses.
It has been described as a natural progression rather than a change in business direction. Local expertise will continue to play an important role. Existing customer relationships will also be maintained.
A structured implementation roadmap has been established. Business continuity will be prioritised throughout the transition. Customers and partners are expected to experience the same level of service, quality and reliability that has defined the partnership for more than 40 years.
The Danish operation will continue contributing its extensive understanding of local market requirements. This knowledge will be combined with Blum’s product development capabilities and advanced manufacturing expertise.
The strategy also reflects broader developments within the furniture manufacturing industry.
Manufacturers increasingly require integrated solutions that combine premium hardware, technical expertise and reliable customer support. By bringing OL Beslag fully into the Group, Blum aims to strengthen its ability to deliver comprehensive solutions that respond to evolving customer expectations.
The company believes this closer integration will improve collaboration across business functions while creating additional opportunities for innovation. Technical expertise will be shared more efficiently. Resources can also be aligned more effectively to support future business growth.
Customer service remains a central focus.
The existing sales and service approach will continue under the new structure. Familiar business relationships are expected to remain unchanged, providing reassurance to customers and supply chain partners throughout the integration process.
The partnership has already demonstrated consistent success in the Danish market. That experience is expected to provide a solid foundation for continued expansion within Scandinavia.
Blum also views the move as an important step in strengthening its regional presence. Denmark has long been recognised as an established and well-served market for furniture fittings. The company intends to build on this position through greater operational alignment and closer cooperation.
The combination of Blum’s international manufacturing capabilities with OL Beslag’s local market expertise creates a strong strategic platform. Long-term business stability is expected to be enhanced. Succession planning has also been secured through the transition.
The integration supports Blum’s broader commitment to delivering innovative furniture hardware solutions while maintaining close customer relationships across key European markets.
Looking ahead, the company intends to continue expanding its service offering throughout Denmark and the wider Scandinavian region. The strategy is based on preserving the trusted relationships developed over four decades while strengthening technical capabilities and customer support through the resources of the Blum Group.
With the integration now complete, Blum has reinforced its long-term commitment to the Danish furniture fittings market. The company believes the combination of shared values, industry expertise and local market knowledge will provide a strong foundation for sustainable growth and continued customer success across the region.
