Bjelin-Woodura

Bjelin, a company rooted in Swedish design and innovation, has announced the launch of its new Woodura Herringbone 3.0 collection, which dramatically re-envisions the classic pattern through the lens of durability and environmental stewardship. This new range is not merely an aesthetic update; it’s a technological leap, combining the timeless elegance of herringbone with patented wood hardening and leakproof installation systems designed for the demands of contemporary residential and commercial spaces.

The Woodura Herringbone 3.0 collection builds upon Bjelin’s commitment to sustainable flooring by utilising its proprietary Woodura® technology. This innovation is key to maximising the yield of raw wood material. By bonding a thin veneer of real wood to a high-density fibre core, the technology ensures that the same volume of timber can produce ten times more flooring surface than traditional engineered wood. This massive increase in material efficiency directly contributes to a more sustainable product, significantly reducing the amount of precious oak needed and, as a result, leaving more trees standing in the forest.

Patented technology meets timeless design

The core strength of the new Herringbone 3.0 range lies in the combination of two critical patented technologies: Woodura and the Leakproof 5G Dry™ locking system.

1. Woodura® wood hardening technology

The Woodura process essentially transforms softer, faster-growing timber into a surface layer with hardness comparable to much denser, slow-growing species. This hardened wood layer provides exceptional resistance to impacts and wear, making the new Herringbone 3.0 planks far more robust than conventional wood flooring. This durability is crucial for a pattern often used in high-traffic areas, such as hallways, kitchens, and commercial lobbies. The resulting floor is equipped to withstand the stresses of modern life, from dropped objects to heavy foot traffic, maintaining its sophisticated appearance for years.

2. Leakproof 5G Dry™ installation

A major challenge for wood flooring in moisture-prone areas is water infiltration through the seams, which can cause swelling, warping, and damage to the subfloor. The Woodura Herringbone 3.0 collection addresses this with the integration of 5G Dry™ click flooring technology. This advanced, glue-free locking mechanism ensures watertight joints between the panels, effectively preventing liquids from seeping into the subfloor. The easy-to-install, click-lock system also guarantees a simple, fast installation process without the need for adhesive, making it highly attractive to contractors and do-it-yourself homeowners alike. The precision engineering of the click system ensures perfectly tight seams, which is particularly beneficial for the intricate geometry of the herringbone pattern.

Recognising the evolving demands of interior design, the new collection offers a refreshed colour palette and practical format options, ensuring versatility across various design aesthetics.

The Woodura Herringbone 3.0 range is available in four carefully curated, nature-inspired colours:

For design professionals and consumers seeking flexibility in visual scale, the collection is offered in two distinct formats:

Sara Onsmark, Bjelin’s Product Manager for Woodura, highlighted how the product aligns with the company’s core values. “We’ve taken a classic design and made it tougher, more resource-efficient, and built to meet the demands of modern living and commercial spaces. Herringbone has never looked this good, and we’re convinced this is the future of flooring,” she remarked.

Furthermore, the new collection is engineered for consistency. The Woodura Herringbone 3.0 colours coordinate effortlessly with the existing Woodura Planks 3.0 range. This feature allows architects and interior designers to maintain a seamless colour and material flow when transitioning between different floor patterns within an open-plan design—for instance, using herringbone in a living space and the matching plank format in adjoining bedrooms or hallways.

A specific design choice in the 3.0 range is the use of square edges without a bevel. This creates a clean, seamless surface where each piece fits tightly together, enhancing the impression of a traditional, artisan-laid floor and providing a smooth, continuous flow of wood grain across the entire surface. This subtle detail elevates the perceived quality, offering a sophisticated finish that resonates with high-end interior aesthetics.

The Woodura Herringbone 3.0 collection represents a significant milestone in sustainable, high-performance wood flooring, offering a product that delivers on all fronts: timeless beauty, extreme durability, simplified installation, and profound environmental responsibility.
