SCA, the biggest private forest owner in Europe, has given international technology business ANDRITZ substantial service contracts to enhance the efficiency of the Östrand pulp mill in northern Sweden. The agreements encompass the replacement of an economiser in the recovery boiler as well as the application of the SYNERGY Services concept for pulp drying and white liquor plant operations. These upgrades will boost efficiency and availability, which will support the mill’s main goal of producing more pulp.
ANDRITZ excels in replacing recovery boiler surfaces like economisers. Per Strand, Mill Manager at SCA Östrand opines: “We appreciated the solid design of the ANDRITZ economisers and the dedication shown by the project team. When we tested the SYNERGY concept, we found it to offer a structured approach that we believe can support our efforts to optimise pulp production at the Östrand mill.”

The pulp and paper industry requires long-term service partnerships for improving mills continuously. The SYNERGY Services concept by ANDRITZ integrates expertise and technologies to boost efficiency and availability. “We provide tailored solutions that drive our customers’ success,” comments Hannu Pyykönen, Director of SYNERGY Solutions at ANDRITZ. He adds, “We will collaborate closely with SCA’s experts to further improve productivity at the Östrand mill. Seeing the long-term positive impact of these service agreements on SCA’s operations motivates us to consistently do our best.”
