International technology group ANDRITZ has launched a project to establish a cutting-edge service center for pulp and paper mill equipment in Três Lagoas, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. This strategic investment reinforces ANDRITZ’s commitment to expanding its footprint in Brazil and supporting the local pulp and paper industry. The new facility will cater primarily to mills in Mato Grosso do Sul and surrounding regions, offering comprehensive services such as repairs, rebuilds, equipment upgrades, and maintenance. Additionally, it will function as a manufacturing and distribution hub, enhancing the availability of critical parts.
Alexandre David, Senior Vice President of Pulp and Paper Services for Latin America, said: “This investment is a significant step in our efforts to provide faster and more efficient service to our customers in the region, while supporting the local economic development. Três Lagoas has become a strategic hub for pulp production, making it the ideal location for our new service center.”
The center will be built on a 30,000 m² site, with 6,000 m² used for the workshop and 6,000 m² reserved for environmental preservation. Construction will begin in December 2024, with completion scheduled for the first quarter of 2026. About 50 direct and 150 indirect jobs will be created during the construction phase. Once fully operational, the center is expected to provide more than 130 permanent jobs.
Aligned with ANDRITZ’s commitment to sustainability, 20% of the site will be dedicated to green space preservation. The facility will also feature photovoltaic panels for renewable energy generation and cisterns for collecting rainwater and process water, promoting efficient resource use. Looking ahead, ANDRITZ plans to expand the center’s capacity, further solidifying its presence in the region and supporting its long-term growth strategy.
