The General Assembly of Acimall, Italy’s premier association of woodworking and furniture technology manufacturers, convened on July 3, 2025, to appoint new board members for the 2025-2027 term. The association, which is a member of Confindustria, welcomed a fresh lineup of leadership aimed at steering the Italian woodworking industry through significant challenges and opportunities, particularly in digital transformation.

These professionals will join Enrico Aureli, President of Scm Group (Rimini), and Raphaël Prati, Chief Marketing & Communications Officer at Biesse (Pesaro), whose appointment is set for renewal in 2026.

During the assembly, President Enrico Aureli emphasized the growing importance of digital transformation in the woodworking sector. He called for a more strategic approach, focusing on the software that underpins technological advancements, which he believes is critical for remaining competitive in a fast-evolving global market.

Key Insights into the Italian Woodworking Industry

The assembly also included an in-depth presentation from Mecs (Manufacturing Economic Studies), detailing the state of the Italian woodworking technology industry. As of 2024, the sector, which employs nearly 10,000 people across 188 significant companies, is valued at €2.47 billion, with exports accounting for 74.1% of this figure (€1.83 billion). These insights underline Italy’s dominant role in the international woodworking market.

Federation Commitment to Advocacy

The day concluded with remarks from Riccardo Cavanna, President of the newly formed Federazione Confindustria Macchine, which includes Acimall. Cavanna reaffirmed the federation’s commitment to advocating for Italy’s mechanical industries, focusing on lobbying efforts in national and international arenas where pivotal decisions impacting the future of Italian manufacturing will be made.
