Despite a series of extraordinary challenges 75% of the display space at LIGNA 2023 has been already booked. Around two-thirds of LIGNA’s longstanding exhibitors have already confirmed their participation for 2023. From May 15 to 19, 2023, the industry will convene at its flagship trade fair in Hannover, Germany.

Since pandemic the woodworking industry has experienced perilous times, including rising energy prices, material shortages and economic uncertainties in many markets, however, the woodworking and wood processing industry is in good spirits now, some six months before LIGNA.

“This positive trend underscores the importance of LIGNA for the woodworking community as a key networking hub and platform for development and innovation,” commented Dr. Bernhard Dirr, Managing Director of the VDMA Woodworking Machinery Association, referring to the high level of registrations. “

In addition to the opportunity for face-to-face networking and presentations at exhibition stands, LIGNA 2023 also scores high with its focus on current industry developments. This and next year, LIGNA’s appeal will be enhanced by digital elements designed to increase the event’s reach – before, during and after the show.

“Based on the current rate of bookings and our discussions over the past few months, we can confirm the high level of loyalty and commitment of our exhibitors towards LIGNA which provides them with the opportunity to perform live demonstrations – not just of machines and tools, but of total solutions covering all aspects of their products and services,” reported Stephanie Wagner, Head of LIGNA.

Themes and events for the industry

Besides the presentation of tool and machinery solutions, at the LIGNA23 visitors can also look forward to discussions of highly relevant industry challenges at the LIGNA.Stage. At the LIGNA.Campus, participants from research and education will present their educational offers and research projects, and at the LIGNA.Future Square powered by VDMA, startups from the industry will showcase their business ideas. LIGNA 2023 will once again host the German Timber Construction Award. For the 10th time the award ceremony that happens in every two years will be celebrated during LIGNA, the largest event of the woodworking and manufacturing industry. German Timber Construction Award is considered as one of the most important awards for buildings made of wood in Germany. The German Timber Construction Prize is awarded to realised buildings and building components which are predominantly made of wood and wood-based materials as well as other renewable raw materials and which exemplify the application spectrum of wood as a building material. The buildings to be submitted should be of high design quality. It is also a prerequisite that they take into account environmentally friendly and resource-saving aspects in terms of sustainability and climate protection. The competition will be held in the categories of new buildings, existing buildings and innovative planning and building concepts.

“Following a four-year break, it is realistic to expect a firework of innovations at LIGNA 2023. LIGNA 2023 will be a must-have-can’t-miss event for all of us,” says Stephanie Wagner, looking forward to May 2023 with optimism.
