Henkel gets involved with Universal Climate Agreement

henkelHenkel announced that it signed the CEO Climate Leaders pledge an open letter signed by the heads of 78 global companies that urges world leaders to reach an ambitious climate deal at the UNFCCC’s Conference of the Parties (COP21) in Paris. The signing CEOs, whose companies are worth $2.13 trillion in revenue altogether, equivalent to India’s gross domestic product (GDP), argue that climate action will generate jobs and growth both in mature and emerging markets.

 

“We signed this statement to pledge our support for a strong universal climate agreement in Paris that helps move the world towards a low-carbon economy, said Henkel CEO Kasper Rorsted. We also want to confirm our commitment to reduce CO2 emissions. “in our operations and in collaborating with our partners along the value chain. Managing climate risks and incorporating them into decision making drives not only energy efficiency but offers tremendous opportunities for growth” He concluded.

 

The CEO Climate Leaders hope to leverage the momentum recently generated by pledges from more than 160 countries “including the US and China” to highlight the fact that governments have industry support to take decisive action against climate change.
