In a world increasingly defined by technological advancement, Yamato Scientific Co., Ltd. is taking a bold step forward with the construction of its new Yamato Mirai Factory Shizuoka. This visionary project, which began construction in July 2023 and is set to be operational by July 2024, is more than just a facility—it’s a Smart Factory designed to exemplify the future of sustainable and efficient manufacturing.
Located in Shimizu-ku, Shizuoka Prefecture, the factory spans 11,996.66 m², with a total floor area of 3,408.70 m². The facility is strategically positioned near the Shin-Tomei Expressway to ensure logistical efficiency. Additionally, it incorporates solar panels and hydroelectric power to align with Yamato Scientific’s commitment to environmental responsibility.
Yamato Scientific, a leading provider of scientific and industrial equipment, needed a partner capable of not only planning the factory layout but also implementing advanced manufacturing systems. After careful consideration, they selected HOMAG Japan, renowned for its expertise in digital factories and cutting-edge industrial machinery. Together, they’ve embarked on this groundbreaking venture to create a fully integrated DX Smart Factory.
HOMAG Japan’s role in this ambitious project was pivotal. The company delivered a comprehensive turn-key solution, providing machinery, software, and digital assistance to operators throughout the factory. The factory’s setup includes advanced machinery like the SAWTEQ B-300 panel diving saw, EDGETEQ S-500 edge banding machine, and DRILLTEQ H-600 CNC processing center, among others. These machines are seamlessly interconnected through HOMAG’s Factory Management System (FMS) and HOMAG iX 3D software, ensuring smooth, automated operations.
A crucial part of the installation was the integration of a manual sorting system and complex data construction for HOMAG iX, realized with support from HOMAG China. Barcode technology enhances precision, guiding operators through each production step—from cutting and sorting to edge banding and final assembly. Even dust extraction was provided by HOMAG Japan, making it a complete, environmentally-friendly solution.
In July 2024, Yamato Scientific recognized the importance of this collaboration by presenting HOMAG Japan with a Letter of Appreciation. The successful completion of the Yamato Mirai Factory stands as a testament to the strength of this partnership. To commemorate the factory’s opening, a tree-planting ceremony was held, symbolizing the fruitful relationship between the two companies.
