Välinge Innovation, a global leader in flooring and furniture technology, is showcasing its latest advancements in powder-based surface technologies at two significant industry events this November. These events are the 15th Flooring Colloquium (Fußbodenkolloquium) in Dresden, Germany (13–14 November) and the 2025 Surfaces Eurasia Conference in Istanbul, Turkey (25–26 November).
At both conferences, Välinge will introduce cutting-edge developments that promise to revolutionise the surface technology sector, with a focus on sustainability, performance, and durability. The company continues to lead in creating surfaces that are not only functional but also environmentally responsible.
Since the launch of its first wood powder technologies, Nadura® and Woodura®, in 2008, Välinge has been at the forefront of surface innovation. These pioneering technologies, which incorporate recycled wood dust combined with advanced resin technology, have set new standards in surface strength, wear resistance, and environmental sustainability.
“Since the introduction of Nadura® and Woodura®, Välinge has redefined how surfaces are produced, elevating the performance and environmental benefits of flooring and furniture products,” said Göran Ziegler, Director of R&D Surface Technology at Välinge Innovation.
The new powder-based technology that Välinge is presenting this November has been developed in collaboration with Covestro. This breakthrough solution eliminates melamine and formaldehyde from the resin, enhancing both the safety and durability of powder-based flooring. The new surface technology is also free from hazardous chemicals, making it a more environmentally friendly option for consumers and manufacturers alike.
Välinge’s new technology platform enhances its existing Nadura® and Woodura® technologies, pushing the boundaries of sustainable surface solutions. The development also introduces hybrid surfaces such as Wood Powder Laminate (WPL), which blends decorative paper with powder technology. This allows for the use of dry decorative papers along with a powder-based overlay, creating a completely new category of surface materials.
“Powder impregnation is a powerful method for enhancing the properties of both the surface and core of flooring products. It also gives manufacturers greater control over curing, which results in consistent, high-quality production,” Ziegler explained.
This new technology not only improves performance but also enables the production of larger format panels and broader installation areas. As a result, this breakthrough solution provides greater flexibility for manufacturers and end-users alike, ensuring a high level of performance across a wide range of applications.
“These latest developments within wood powder technology enable the creation of laminate, wood, and MMF products that meet high-performance demands while being entirely free from melamine and formaldehyde,” Ziegler added.
Välinge’s commitment to sustainable progress in surface technology is further evidenced by the company’s aim to assist the industry in combining exceptional performance with environmental responsibility. By eliminating harmful chemicals and improving performance, the company is helping to shape a greener future for flooring and furniture industries.
“With this new technology platform, we aim to help the industry deliver exceptional performance and durability while safeguarding our planet and future generations,” said Ziegler.
The upcoming presentations at the Flooring Colloquium in Germany and Surfaces Eurasia in Turkey will provide industry professionals with a deeper understanding of how these new surface technologies can be implemented in flooring and furniture products.
As sustainability becomes an increasing priority for both manufacturers and consumers, Välinge’s powder-based surface solutions are leading the way. The push towards eliminating harmful chemicals like melamine and formaldehyde from everyday products is gaining momentum across industries. Välinge’s innovations offer a clear solution to these environmental and health challenges.
The company’s continuous research and development efforts in surface technology have cemented its reputation as an industry leader. By utilising recycled materials and optimising resin technologies, Välinge’s products not only outperform traditional surfaces but also contribute to reducing the overall ecological footprint of the flooring and furniture industries.
Välinge’s Director of R&D, Göran Ziegler, will be the key speaker at both the 15th Flooring Colloquium in Dresden, Germany (13–14 November) and the 2025 Surfaces Eurasia Conference in Istanbul, Turkey (25–26 November). At these events, Ziegler will delve deeper into the technology’s benefits, sharing insights on how powder impregnation optimises both the performance of the surface and the overall manufacturing process.
These events provide an excellent opportunity for industry professionals to learn more about the latest trends and technologies in surface solutions. For Välinge, the events will allow the company to highlight its cutting-edge innovations and engage with potential partners and customers.
Välinge’s ongoing work in the surface technology sector highlights its dedication to both innovation and sustainability. The company is continually evolving to meet the demands of a changing market, offering solutions that meet the performance expectations of modern consumers while reducing the impact on the environment.
As the demand for sustainable products grows, Välinge’s leadership in creating chemical-free, high-performance surfaces is more crucial than ever. With its innovative powder-based surface technologies, Välinge is helping to shape the future of flooring and furniture, creating a more sustainable and high-quality industry.
Välinge Innovation is once again setting the bar for surface technology with its groundbreaking advancements in powder-based solutions. By eliminating harmful chemicals, enhancing surface performance, and contributing to sustainability, Välinge is leading the way in creating safer, more durable products for the flooring and furniture sectors. The upcoming presentations at the Flooring Colloquium and Surfaces Eurasia offer a valuable opportunity for professionals to learn more about these innovations and their potential applications in the industry.
