The agreement allows i4f to extend additional legal protection to its licensees. This protection is linked to Unilin’s established patent portfolio. As a result, manufacturers can now access multiple coating technologies without legal uncertainty. This move simplifies adoption across the industry. It also encourages innovation and competition.
Unicoat has been developed as a patented edge-coating technology. It is applied during the production phase. The coating targets specific areas along the panel edges. Once installed, it creates a sealed barrier between flooring boards. This barrier is highly effective. It prevents water from penetrating the joints.
