Fagus Factory

In 2025, the UNESCO exhibition in Venice will highlight the Fagus Factory world historic site in Alfeld. The exhibition, “Deep Surfaces: Architecture to Enhance the Visitor Experience of UNESCO Sites,” addresses how visitor centers around the world contribute to the vividness of history and culture.

The Fagus Factory: A monument in living form
The Fagus Factory is more than just a monument to architecture; it is one of the first instances of contemporary industrial architecture and has served as a center of work, production, and design for more than a century. Exhibitions and tours have been offered by the visitor center since 2015, providing visitors with up-close access to the architecture and enabling them to learn about the factory’s past as well as its current operations.

The exhibition “Deep Surfaces” covers architectural issues. The visitor center is on display with architectural projects that have a significant social, cultural, or ecological impact as part of the “Deep Surfaces” exhibition, which is organised by UNESCO. A variety of new construction, remodeling, and modular designs are on display.

For a more immersive experience, the show will also have digital information, a material library, and interactive elements. UNESCO’s regional office for science and culture in Europe, Palazzo Zorzi, will host “Deep Surfaces” from May 10 to November 23, 2025.
