SCM showcased innovations for timber construction from March 13 to 15, including the OIKOS XS 650 CNC machine and updated software services. Tuscany, in the heart of Italy, has always offered the world refined technology.
SCM, a global wood processing leader, showcased specialised solutions for timber construction, attracting 300+ visitors, including industry experts, to their Sinalunga headquarters for the “Timber Construction Days” open house where new technologies were unveiled.
The event highlighted Maestro lab beam&wall, dedicated SCM software for AREA and OIKOS CNC machines. Emphasis was on digital services like Maestro connect IoT platform for monitoring machine performance. The industrial plant was enlarged by 50%, with 3,000 m2 more production space for increased capacity and better logistics to boost innovation.
“In line with the high demand from the timber construction industry, both in Europe and overseas, we speeded up our R&D path and we were proud to showcase the many results at the open house” commented Tommaso Martini, Business Unit Manager for CNC Machining Centres and Systems for Timber Construction. “We started out with the production needs linked to the construction of timber buildings using mass timber and moved towards promoting a new concept of ‘smart timber’. We did so with solutions that allow our customers to make their processes smarter, optimising workflows, saving on material and covering a wider spectrum of applications”.- Tommaso continued.
At “Timber Construction Days,” attendees could assist in presentations of new products, tour factories showcasing models like OIKOS XS 450, OIKOS X, OIKOS XL, and AREA X for various beam and CLT element machining. SCM showcased additional technologies for CLT panel machining: sanding and double-end profiling machines.
Randek, a key player, and various partners provided comprehensive systems and solutions in timber construction. The open house, preceded by training, gathered SCM’s global network in Sinalunga to discuss and innovate for a sustainable future.
SCM Group, a pioneer in machining, collaborates with industries worldwide in various sectors, with 3 production centers in Italy and a presence on all continents.
