The wooden Regional Directorate of State Forests in Szczecin

The Regional Directorate of State Forests in Szczecin has moved to a new, energy-saving headquarters, that is built using prefabricated technology. The building, designed by the Gdańsk company Ekoinbud, is distinguished by its modular wooden structure, the use of energy-saving solutions and integration with the surrounding area.

The new headquarters of the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Szczecin that was built in just three months is an perfect example of architecture and sustainable construction. The innovative approach of the designer has brought spectacular results while making the best use of wood.

Structural beams made of solid BSH wood, incorporated into the façade, not only give the building a strong vertical rhythm, but also constitute an integral part of the building’s aesthetics. The two-story building with an area of ​​3,191 m2 was designed in mixed technology, combining elements of reinforced concrete, wood and prefabricated modules.

”Designing modern office buildings is our specialty, and working on the headquarters of the Regional Directorate of State Forests was a unique challenge for us” – says Bogumiła Kasprzyk, project manager at Ekoinbud.

The efficient designer has not only taken care of the eye-catching design and functional efficiency of the buiding, but has also taken consideration of the sustainable aspects of the building. The use of a system of reneable energy sources, including heat pumps and photovoltaic panels are making the building more energy efficient. The whole thing has been adapted to the surroundings, and the greenery surrounding the building not only plays a compositional role, but also fits into the ecological context.

”Care for the environment was our priority. The use of energy-saving technologies and integration with the surroundings are key elements that make our facility not only modern, but also sustainable” – adds Tomasz Balcerowski, president of the management board of Ekoinbud.

The new headquarters of the Regional Directorate of State Forests can be taken to be an impressive building that proves the architectural progress. The structure also proves the fact that modern construction can perfectly make use of sustainable raw materials without any compromise of functionality.
