Thailand’s Furniture Industry on the Rise
Thailand’s furniture market continued to thrive, driven by rapid urbanisation and increasing disposable income. The country boasted over 2,600 furniture manufacturers, with wooden furniture accounting for 70% of all furniture produced for export. According to the Thai Furniture Association, Thailand positioned itself as Southeast Asia’s leading hub for furniture production, as well as a key supplier of wooden components and raw materials.
Thailand’s sawmill industry also played a crucial role in the production of lumber and wood products. In 2022, the country produced approximately 78,000 tonnes of eucalyptus wood, the highest among timber products, followed by teak.
In terms of exports, Thailand’s fibreboard export value reached THB 29.5 billion in 2022, with wood chips and particles accounting for 4.4 billion kilograms. The country also imported significant volumes of pulpwood and wood charcoals, underscoring its strong involvement in the global wood products trade.
