Sunds Fibertech partners with Ranger Board for major MDF plant upgrade in Alberta

Ranger Board, a division of West Fraser Timber, has announced a major modernisation project for its Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF) production plant in Blue Ridge, Alberta. Teaming up with Sunds Fibertech, a leading supplier of panelboard production technologies, the collaboration will see significant upgrades to the plant’s equipment, including the installation of advanced press components and a cutting-edge press surveillance system. This comprehensive upgrade is set for completion by the summer of 2025.

A key element of the project is Sunds Fibertech’s specialized expertise in Multi-opening presses, which will be instrumental in enhancing Ranger Board’s production efficiency and equipment reliability. “With this new project, Sunds Fibertech continues to expand its footprint in North America, which has been the second-largest sales region for the company this year,” says Kenth Eklund, President of Sales at Sunds Fibertech. “We look forward to supporting both existing and new customers with demanding projects across the continent.”

This initiative marks the second major Multi-opening press rebuild for Sunds Fibertech in recent months, underscoring the company’s strategic focus on modernizing and servicing Multi-opening systems. Sunds Fibertech’s offerings cover a broad spectrum of panelboard production technologies, providing clients with both new machinery and high-performance upgrades tailored to their operations, delivering substantial commercial and environmental benefits.
