Stora Enso confirms supply of renewable wood materials to Sweden’s National Museum of Science and Technology. They have further confirmed that they are the main partner of a new construction project in Stockholm, Sweden, responsible for delivering wood construction materials.

The construction of Wisdome Stockholm, a scientific experience arena, is now underway. The building at Sweden’s National Museum of Science and Technology in Stockholm will champion sustainable and climate-smart construction in wood.

With a wooden building design of 1,325m2 and a vaulted roof, the building has a globe-shaped dome theatre of 21.6m in diameter that can host a 3D cinema with a spherical screen.

“We are a proud supplier to this ground-breaking project. Wisdome Stockholm pushes the boundaries and shows what is possible to create with wood as a climate-friendly construction material. Through unique projects like this we can strengthen our customer offering as well as our leading position within renewable construction materials,” said Per Lyrvall, country manager Sweden, Stora Enso.

Stora Enso will be supplying cross-laminated timber (CLT) and laminated-veneer lumber (LVL), which can replace traditional building materials such as steel and concrete. Several of Stora Enso’s digital solutions in wood construction will also be used in the project, such as the assembly app CLT 360+, the moisture sensors Wiiste and the calculation tool Calculatis. The inauguration of Wisdome Stockholm is planned for 2023, with official construction starting in 2022.

Stora Enso is a supplier of wood products based in Europe, and has delivered wood materials to around 20,000 construction projects worldwide.

Stora Enso has some 22,000 employees, and is publicly listed on the Helsinki and Stockholm stock exchanges. Our sales in 2021 were EUR 10.2 billion, with an operational EBIT of EUR 1,528 million.

Responsibility for nature and the communities where we operate underpin our approach in every aspect. We work to ensure that forests and plantations are sustainably managed and that every effort is made to ensure more trees are grown than harvested.
