Stora Enso is excited to introduce UKP Nova E, a specialised Unbleached Kraft Pulp (UKP) designed specifically for electrical insulation papers. This new pulp grade meets the demanding standards for low electrical conductivity and exceptional mechanical strength. UKP Nova E underscores the company’s dedication to sustainable innovation and its continued leadership in advancing top-tier UKP solutions.
Tailored for electrical excellence
The newly developed UKP Nova E is designed to meet the stringent requirements for extremely high purity in electrical insulation materials, while also offering high strength properties. Its low conductivity and high viscosity make it ideal for applications requiring reliable dielectric properties and mechanical resilience.
Expertise rooted in innovation
With decades of expertise in pulp production, Stora Enso leverages its deep industry knowledge to deliver premium products. The company’s investments in specialised pulp grades, including upgrades to UKP production at the Enocell mill, demonstrate its commitment to addressing evolving market demands while advancing sustainable practices. Building on this strong foundation, Stora Enso now extends its expertise to electrical insulation paper applications, including transformer boards, cable papers, battery separator papers, and capacitor papers.
Sustainable production with a reduced carbon footprint
Stora Enso’s UKP Nova E is produced through an efficient process that minimises environmental impact. As an unbleached pulp, its production requires fewer chemicals and less energy, resulting in a carbon footprint almost 30 % lower per tonne compared to bleached alternatives. This launch reflects Stora Enso’s commitment to sustainable innovation in fiber-based materials.
UKP Nova E is designed to meet strict requirements for electrical conductivity and strength, making it suitable for electrical applications. Stora Enso’s UKP Nova is made of pine and spruce that come from sustainably managed Nordic forests. All wood is 100 percent traceable and originates from certified sustainable sources. FSC and PEFC chain-of-custody certification is available upon request. With UKP Nova E, Stora Enso offers a renewable, low-impact solution that helps customers meet their performance needs while supporting environmental goals.
