Stora Enso will implement a new financial reporting structure effective January 01, 2026, aligning with the Group’s enhanced focus on renewable materials and packaging. In addition, the Group is introducing new financial targets along with a clear roadmap to achieve them. More insights will be shared at Stora Enso’s Capital Markets Day tomorrow, November 25.
Reporting structure
Following the recent decision to separate Stora Enso’s Swedish forest assets into a listed public company and to initiate a strategic review of the Central European sawmilling and building solutions business, Stora Enso will further strengthen its leadership in renewable materials and packaging. The Group will maintain strong market positions, supported by more flexible, integrated, and cost-competitive production. In line with this more focused strategy, Stora Enso is introducing a new financial reporting structure.
The new reporting segments are:
1) Consumer packaging ((comprising the Cartonboard and the Foodservice and Liquid Board business areas)
2) Integrated packaging ((comprising the Containerboard and the Packaging Solutions business areas)
3) Biomaterials
4) Other (including the Wood and Energy business area)
In addition, Stora Enso introduced new financial targets along with a clear roadmap to achieve them:
The wood products sites in Northern Europe, that are not included in the strategic review announced on 14 November, are integrated into the packaging and biomaterials segments to align with business unit P&L responsibilities. The Swedish forest assets and the Central European sawmilling and building solutions operations (currently under strategic review) will be reported under the segment Other.
Purpose and Values of Stora Enso
Stora Enso works with people and in communities all over the world through their operations, sales and supply chains. In each and every step they take, Stora Enso considers their actions and their impact on others.
The purpose of Stora Enso is, “Do good for people and the planet. Replace non-renewable materials with renewable products” underpins their belief that everything that can be made with fossil-based materials today can be made from a tree tomorrow, and highlights Stora Enso’s opportunity to contribute to a greener economy.
Their purpose and values are underlined by their continuing commitment to promote a more sustainable future, one less dependent on fossil fuels and supporting a bioeconomy where the production and consumption of products are based on wood as a renewable resource. Wood fibre-based products store carbon and can also replace non-renewable materials such as plastic, glass, steel, concrete and fossil fuels. With global warming, growing populations, urbanisation, changing life styles and eco-awareness, trees can be a big part of the solution for customers and their consumers towards a sustainable bioeconomy.
