STELA drying technology

STELA impresses at IFAT 2026 with energy-efficient belt drying systems for environmental technology. From May 4 to May 7, stela exhibited at IFAT, the world’s leading trade fair for environmental technologies in Munich. Over 140,000 visitors explored new industry solutions from more than 3,400 exhibitors.

The focus of the trade show presentation was on innovative technologies for drying sewage sludge, biomass, and waste. In light of increasing demands on environmental standards and energy efficiency, high-performance and sustainable drying processes are becoming increasingly important. STELA demonstrated how modern systems can help reduce CO₂ emissions, use resources more efficiently, and create economic benefits for operators.

Innovative Drying Technology

As requirements for wastewater and waste treatment increase, so does the demand for high-performance and energy-efficient processes. At IFAT 2026, STELA demonstrated how modern drying technologies can contribute to reducing CO₂ emissions and conserving resources.

Focus on belt drying systems for sewage sludge and RDF

A highlight of the trade show presentation was STELA’s belt drying systems, which were specifically developed to meet the requirements of sewage sludge drying as well as biomass and waste drying.

These systems enable:

Thanks to their modular design, the systems can be flexibly integrated into existing infrastructure.

Warm reception from industry professionals

IFAT 2026 provided an ideal platform for engaging with existing customers and new prospects from around the world. Numerous discussions revealed that demand for efficient drying solutions continues to grow, not least due to rising requirements for environmental standards and energy conservation. We were also pleased to welcome Tobias Gotthardt, State Secretary at the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development, and Energy, to our booth.

Future-oriented solutions for global challenges

With its drying systems, STELA makes an important contribution to the sustainable use of resources and the reduction of environmental impact. Especially in waste and sewage sludge treatment, efficient drying processes play a central role in reducing volume, lowering transport costs, and recovering valuable materials.

IFAT 2026 once again underscores the importance of innovative environmental technologies. For STELA, the trade show was a complete success—we sincerely thank all guests for visiting us and for the valuable insights shared at our booth. We are already looking forward to the next IFAT in 2028.

STELA can look back on many years of tradition and experience. Today, STELA is managed by the third generation of the family, represented by Thomas Laxhuber and Rainer Hettwer and it continues to focus on its main area of business: drying. STELA received the “Top Company in Lower Bavaria” award in 2017, 2018, and 2024. In 2022, stela Laxhuber was named the winner of the Bavarian SME Award 2021/2022. In the same year, stela celebrated its 100th anniversary. In 2025, the company was awarded the “Bavaria’s Best 50” prize.
