Södra provides wood solutions that meet the challenges of Nordic weather, support efficient construction, and complement modern architecture—now with the added benefit of a non-toxic material choice. Södra’s hybrid larch facade product has achieved a Class A rating in the SundaHus assessment.

The SundaHus assessment system is utilised to ensure the use of non-toxic building materials, helping to minimise hazardous substances during construction. A product that achieves a Class A rating indicates minimal health or environmental impact, particularly regarding carcinogenic, reproductive, hormone-disrupting, and allergenic substances. Additionally, such a product poses no health or environmental risks during construction, places minimal strain on natural resources, and supports sustainable forestry practices.

Hybrid larch is a hybrid between European and Japanese larch that has been around since the 1950s and has been used in large parts of Europe since then. The raw material for Södra‘s hybrid larch comes from the family forestry‘s responsibly managed forests in southern Sweden and is refined at their own facilities. Hybrid larch is resistant to rot damage and natural decay. In combination with the sustainable value chain, this makes hybrid larch a both climate- and health-smart choice of wood for all types of outdoor buildings.
