Södra Gold Birch Z

A northern bleached hardwood kraft pulp made from birch. Södra gold birch Z has the highest tensile strength of any product in Södra’s portfolio. Switch from eucalyptus and one will notice the difference immediately when it comes to tensile strength, without compromising on softness. This is a great choice if someone wants the softness of hardwood with the tensile strength of softwood. And it has the added advantage of carrying both the TCF and PEFC or FSC® guarantees.

Södra gold birch Z is mainly made of birch and aspen.

Södra gold birch Z is most suitable for applications where high tensile strength is important while still maintaining the softness of hardwood and the strength of softwood. This can include use in the paper and cardboard industry, where high tensile strength is important to ensure durability and quality. Södra gold birch Z is available certified to TCF and PEFC or FSC®.

Softness and strength, close to the source

The raw material in Södra gold is hardwood, which has shorter fibres than softwood. The advantage of these short birch fibres is that they combine good formation properties with excellent tensile and Z-strength. These fibres will also create a very soft sheet if required.

Södra was founded in 1938 on a simple but powerful belief: they are stronger together. Today, Södra is Sweden’s largest forest owners’ association, with more than 50,000 members. Together, they own world-class industrial facilities that make products people use and rely on every day. care for the forest so that it can care for us — today and for generations to come.

Södra starts in the forest, but they don’t end there. They are present every step of the way – from the family forest owner who plants and nurtures the forest, to their processes where they carefully refine the raw material, to the family that uses what the forest provides, every single day.

“Being close is the foundation of everything we do.” It’s about knowing the forests and understanding the reality of the family forest owners. But it’s also about recognising their customers’ needs and sharing responsibility for the future.
