Skantrae

Skantrae has doubled the packing capacity. The working quality and packaging quality have been improved. The company has previously installed a new RoRo StretchPack door packaging line from Tentoma that would have replaced the heat shrink oven.

Skantrae’s improvement has been an obvious choice. According Peter Klomp, who is the production manager of the company said “At that time we could only pack 400 to 500 doors each day using the heat shrink tunnel, and that was not sufficient. We needed to pack about 800-900 doors each day, so capacity was the main reason why we were searching for a new packaging solution”. This could be regarded as the main reason for perceiving the idea.

He also informed that previously the doors were lifted by hand which proves to be very much tough work. Now that there is a conveyor it is easier for the lifting. Now, it is just a button push that makes sure that the lifting is done perfectly.

Skantrae’s innovation makes sure that 30% film savings and improved working environment is ensured. The shrink solution also helps in reducing carbon footprint. It works the same way as the removal of heat shrink from the packaging line works.

With the innovation the work is not that difficult anymore. Working next to heat shrink over with 160-170 degrees has been very difficult in the summertime. The improvement has several benefits like increased packaging capacity with a minimum of 50-60%, reduction in film consumption of 30%, removes overtime work which caused less labour costs. The process also improves packaging quality. The company now anticipates that this process is going to increase total work efficiency.

Tentoma A/S is a horizontal stretch film packaging and wrapping company who are constantly developing products to meet with the competitive requirement of the market. The production quality and productivity is also likely to improve as the manual labour is eliminating.
