SIKO launches new magnetic sensor MagLine MSC500

 Tuesday, July 19, 2016

SIKO magnetic sensorWith its MSC sensor family, SIKO GmbH presents the latest stage of development in ultra-compact magnetic sensors for industry as well as machine and plant construction. Common applications for SIKO’s latest compact sensors include linear actuators, stop adjustment for saws, and even measurement of the tracking of solar plants.

The SIKO magnetic sensor MSC500 constitutes a significant further development of the previous MagLine magnetic sensors, in terms of their performance and integrated technology. The sensor includes, for example, a clever, multicolored status LED that considerably facilitates commissioning and functional checking for the user. For example, the correct distance between the magnetic band or magnetic ring is monitored visually. If the reading distance between sensor and magnetic tape / magnetic ring is excessive, this is shown optically to the user via blue LED lighting. The color green indicates an intact power supply, while the color yellow indicates that the encoded path information is being read correctly from the magnetic tape or the magnetic ring.

Another new feature is the plug connection right on the sensor. The combination of pluggable version and the status LED along with its unique compact design allows installation even where space is limited. This enables quick and accurate installation of the system and thus already helps save costs here. The new, robust and resistant plastic housing is mechanically compatible with the existing designs of MagLine magnetic sensors.

The MSC500 sensor system will be available on the market from the second quarter of 2016 and can be tested out free of charge on request by contacting SIKO GmbH.

The advantages at a glance:

• Contactless, wear-free measuring principle
• Robust compact plastic design
• IP protection class 67
• Status LED display with integrated distance monitoring
• Parameter resolution and pulse interval programmable via optional tool
• Mounting holes compatible with previous versions of the magnetic sensor MSK
• All common output signals already included in the standard
