ZAO Murom in the Vladimir, Russia has accepted a Siempelkamp OSB plant in July. The first board on November 26th, 2020 marked the start of three-shift operation in March 2021 and now the next milestone has been reached can indeed be considered as a success in view of the challenging circumstances.

The core piece is a ContiRoll® Generation 9 in the 8.5′ x 30.4 m format of the new OSB line. The complete plant includes the combined competence of the Siempelkamp Group: Pallmann and CMC as front-end specialists within the Group contributed the raw material preparation as well as the screening, gluing and forming technology. The energy plant and drum dryer were supplied by Büttner, and Sicoplan was responsible for the engineering. Also included are Siempelkamp’s new developments for OSB production which have already proven their positive characteristics in plant performance: the press heating system, a release agent application device for pMDI use, and the “strand catchers”. The innovative OSB line with an annual capacity of more than 280,000 m3 enables Murom to use diverse raw material assortments, including waste from plywood production, another focus of the plant investor.

The plant’s machinery and components enable the production of a high-quality wood-based product that can be sold worldwide and offers clear competitive advantages. This product is already meeting with great approval in the customer’s markets. The plant now also produces very thin OSB with a board thickness of 6.0 mm – a unique selling point for ZAO Murom in Russia.

“We are pleased with the successfully completed acceptance process, which provides ZAO Murom with another strong foundation for wood processing and will influence new investments in the wood-based materials sector in the future,” says Konstantin Putintsev, General Director OOO Siempelkamp (Russia).
