Schuler Group’s Gemmingen location recently attained a milestone by completing its 50 years long journey. In 1973, Siegfried Heilmann and Fritz Haller founded “Gemminger Maschinenbau GmbH” – GMG for short – and thus laid the foundation for today’s Schuler factory in Gemmingen. Initially, the focus of the business was on the production and sale of special machines, feeding and linking systems as well as the automation of machine tools.
In the present day Gemmingen is the competence center for automation of press lines as well as for hydraulic systems and systems in the Schuler Group, to which the location has belonged since 1989.
1973 was also the year in which Schuler took over what was then “SMG Süddeutsche Maschinenbau Gesellschaft mbH” in Waghäusel and from then on had know-how about hydraulic presses and systems. Since April 2021, Schuler’s hydraulics business in Germany has been concentrated in Gemmingen.
The around 330 employees celebrated the milestone anniversary of their location and hydraulic technology with a Christmas family party on December 15, 2023.
“Schuler can look back on a long tradition in Gemmingen,” says Klaus Linnig, Managing Director, Automotive Division Head and responsible for the Gemmingen location. “By combining presses, hydraulics, automation, service and our own production, the location plays an important role within the Schuler Group. My thanks go to all of our employees who made a significant contribution to this with their knowledge and dedicated commitment.”
