With the FXP-60 and FMP-60, Schmalz is sending a slimmer series of its universal area gripper into wood processors as well as intralogistics specialists. The new vacuum area gripping system is now available in various lengths and with or without an integrated vacuum generator.

J. Schmalz GmbH is slimming down its area gripper. In contrast to the established 130-millimeter-wide version, the FXP-60 and FMP-60 measure just 60 millimeters, making them ideal for use in tight spaces, with interfering contours or for single-beam handling. The slimness does not affect performance: an energy-efficient multi-stage ejector sits on top of the FXP-60, ensuring low running costs and high operational reliability. The FMP-60 variant is designed for an external vacuum generator.

Ideal areas of application are the automated handling of plastic, sheet metal, glass and wood as well as in intralogistics. Despite its narrow width, the FXP-/FMP-60 is not picky when it comes to the dimensions or pickup position of the workpiece. Thanks to integrated flow restrictor technology, the minimum degree of coverage is 50 percent. Thus, even workpieces with recesses or made of porous materials are no difficulty for the narrow gripper.

The new area gripper is particularly lightweight with its modular design consisting of an aluminum profile with sealing foam as the gripping surface. This enables high dynamics in the handling process. While the width is set, the customer can specify the length individually in 18-millimeter increments. The minimum is 316 millimeters for the FMP-60 variant and 388 millimeters for the version with integrated vacuum generator; the maximum is 1,972 millimeters.

Vacuum technology is in demand in a variety of industry sectors and is utilized in many ways ranging from individual components to complete solutions. Schmalz has time and again surprised with vacuum automation and ergonomic handling solutions, combining decades of experience and comprehensive expertise with the ambition to create custom solutions for the customers from industry and trade.
