Schilliger Holz invests in new CLT production line in France

 Friday, January 7, 2022

The construction of buildings in timber construction is booming not only in Switzerland, but also in France and across the world. In particular, multi-storey timber constructions are developing positively, and the demand for cross-laminated timber (CLT) large-format panels has increased accordingly.

In order to satisfy this demand in France and in the international export markets with domestic wood, Schilliger Holz is investing in Volgelsheim, a commune in France, in an automated CLT production line. Switzerland-based Schilliger Holz is a producer and supplier of glued components made of Swiss timber, including glue-laminated timber, solid timber, and planed products, as well as a service provider in the construction industry.

Panels offered by Schilliger Holz are edge glued on all layers, which aims to meet high-quality standards. In this way, the CLT panels are designed to meet high structural and aesthetic requirements. The installation will be carried out in an existing hall in the plant on approximately 5,000m2 of space, and the annual capacity in two-shift operation is designed for approximately 50,000m3 of CLT. Commissioning is expected to take place in January 2024.
