Schattdecor explores emerging design trends at Salone del Mobile.Milano 2026

 Tuesday, May 5, 2026

Every year, the Salone del Mobile.Milano becomes the center of the design world. This 2026 edition was not an exception as usual! For international design team at Schattdecor, being present at the fair is not just about observation. It’s about staying connected to the pulse of the industry, to emerging ideas, and to the people shaping what comes next.

Schattdecor comes with curiosity and with a clear intent. Their team arrives on-site to do what they do best: look closely and translate what they see into real value for their customers. And because their teams come from different regions and markets, they don’t just see the fair through one lens, but through many. That’s how they capture what’s globally relevant and locally meaningful at the same time.

Design today doesn’t happen in a vacuum. Economic realities shape decisions. Sustainability shifts priorities. What was once purely an aesthetic choice is now a much more complex equation.

“Everything we gather there flows back into our work and ultimately into the surfaces that find their way into homes, spaces, and lives.” – Schattdecor.

Salone del Mobile.Milano sets the pace for the international design world — a global gathering point whose impulses shape interior design language for years to come. Recognised as one of the most outstanding interior and furniture design show, Salone del Mobile.Milano invites visitors and exhibitors from worldwide to get the opportunity of international design showcase. It shows both the participants and visitors exactly where design is going, if they know what to look for.

This year, the show was conducted from April 21 to 26, at the Fiera Milano Rho Fairgrounds. This premier global design event has featured the return of biennial exhibitions EuroCucina (kitchen) and the International Bathroom Exhibition, alongside over 1,900 exhibitors and 700 designers in SaloneSatellite.

“We spent the week doing just that. Five trends stood out.” – Schattdecor.

What caught visitors’ attention and what surprised them?

“This year’s Salone was defined by materiality – surfaces made tangible, engaging touch as much as the eye. What mattered most was the interplay of texture, depth, and surface.”

RAVELLO WALNUT – Linear Walnut – Elegance in Motion

Walnut is moving firmly upmarket. Milan showcased lively, striped, grain patterns full of dynamism – grain patterns full of dynamism – a trend their Ravello Walnut fit seamlessly into. Warm, refined, and at home in premium kitchens, it reaffirms wood as one of design’s most emotionally resonant themes.

PALADINA – Paladina Revival – The Classic Returns

Paladina is back- darker, more contemporary, more powerful. From cool greys to deep browns, this classic has found its moment.

COLOSSEO – Travertine – Timeless Relevance Confirmed

Travertine remains a central design element – its natural porosity and organic structure bringing warmth and authenticity to any space. From large – format surfaces to subtle accents, this trend hasn’t lost relevance, it has deepened it.

SONATA – Metallic Surfaces & Black Pores – Tension Through Contrast

Brushed metallics brought cool, technical elegance to Milan’s interiors – but their real strength lies in combination with dark, black-pore woods. The contrast creates tension and modernity. The takeaway: metallics don’t replace the black-pore theme – they elevate it.

PALADI – Red Stones – Bold Accents for Tomorrow

Red marble was one of Milan’s most exciting developments – and one Schattdecor had already anticipated with the Toros decor. Its growing presence in kitchens and on table surfaces signals that bolder colour palettes are gaining ground.
