REHAU Industries has been honored with the BME Procurement Excellence Award for its innovative purchasing platform integrated with artificial intelligence. Presented by the German Association for Supply Chain Management, Procurement, and Logistics (BME), the award recognizes large companies that significantly enhance efficiency by optimizing procurement strategies, systems, and processes. The ceremony took place on November 13, 2024, in Berlin, where Ingo Krendelsberger, Head of Purchasing at REHAU Industries, accepted the award alongside his team.
The new purchasing system introduced by REHAU Industries aims to simplify procurement processes for all employees, reducing complexity and minimizing errors. This enhancement ensures greater compliance with both internal and external regulations.
“Having AI execute routine and simple purchasing activities gives us leeway to focus our purchasing teams on value-adding activities. Furthermore, it has allowed us to significantly improve the attractiveness of purchasing and to position ourselves as an innovative area within the company,” stated Ingo Krendelsberger.
REHAU’s commitment to digitalization and artificial intelligence drives its process optimization efforts. The AI-powered platform ensures data quality by verifying the plausibility of orders and incorporating purchasing-specific technical details. It also provides employees with pre-negotiated conditions, process-related information, or direct contact with relevant personnel for procurement-related inquiries. This intuitive platform supports compliance with mandatory regulations, including national and EU legislation, supplier certifications, and cybercrime rules.
The platform underwent successful testing during a pilot project across Germany and has now been fully integrated into REHAU’s operations. Standardized processes are being deployed globally to enhance purchasing efficiency.
“The aim is to enable our buyers to focus on purchasing projects with high added value in the future,” Krendelsberger added.
This innovative platform underscores REHAU Industries’ leadership in leveraging AI to streamline procurement processes, setting a benchmark in the industry for digital transformation and efficiency.
