DACH+HOLZ International-2026

The European roofing and timber construction industry is bracing for a landmark event as DACH+HOLZ International prepares to return to the Cologne Exhibition Centre from February 24 to 27, 2026. This biennial powerhouse, a synergy of the legendary “Roof+Wall” and “Timber Construction+Interior Works” exhibitions, is evolving. For 2026, the fair is pivoting from a traditional product showcase to a high-energy, interactive “industry experience.”

With the construction world facing rapid shifts in sustainability and digitalisation, the 2026 edition aims to provide more than just exhibition stands. It is creating a communal platform for “innovation, exchange, and business,” underpinned by the emotional pride of the trade.

The hallmark of the 2026 fair is the introduction of three distinct Workspaces, designed to move visitors from passive observation to active participation.

The timber and roofing industries are no longer “low-tech.” The 2026 event will host an expanded Start-up and Innovation Area, featuring 30 pioneering companies. This zone is an incubator for young technologies, including digital planning software, AI-driven site management, and carbon-neutral building materials.

A notable success story often cited by the organisers is Haidl GmbH, which transitioned from a start-up award winner in 2022 to an established industry player with its own standalone booth in 2026—proving that DACH+HOLZ is a critical springboard for business growth.

In an effort to show that the trades are a “cool” and dynamic career path, DACH+HOLZ is introducing unconventional formats:

  1. Crafts Meet Sport: Every day in Hall 8, master roofer and mountain biker Niels Gehrke will perform high-flying freestyle flips and tricks, blending athletic thrill with trade excellence.
  2. Your Industry Tattoo: In a bold move to celebrate trade pride, visitors can get small, industry-specific tattoos from regional artist Dennis—a permanent badge of honor for dedicated carpenters and roofers.
  3. The Open Community Area: Designed by local roofer Florian Hemmersbach, this outdoor space serves as a modern lounge for employer branding and live content creation.

Addressing the skilled labour shortage is a primary goal for 2026. The Holzbau Deutschland stand in Hall 9 will serve as an educational epicenter, featuring competence centers and public training sessions by the German National Carpentry and Roofing Teams.

To engage the “Gen Z” demographic, the “Roofer: Your Profession” campaign will offer:

The event is anchored by powerful partnerships, including Holzbau Deutschland, the ZVDH (Central Association of German Roofing Contractors), and BG Bau. The 2026 program is intentionally diverse, featuring:

DACH+HOLZ International 2026 is setting the stage for a sustainable, digital, and proud future for the European building envelope. Whether you are an architect, a master carpenter, or an ambitious apprentice, Cologne is the place to be this February.
