Southampton-based New Forest Fencing & Gates (NFF) has expanded its manufacturing capabilities with the integration of the Postsaver Pro-Shrink system. The new machine allows high-volume, factory-applied rot protection to be applied automatically, streamlining production and ensuring consistent quality standards. This is particularly beneficial for residential projects as well as large-scale commercial and infrastructure contracts.
The Pro-Shrink system also reduces time demands for installation teams. Postsaver rot protectors are now fitted as standard on all timber fencing jobs, making the installation process faster and more reliable. This move directly responds to increasing demand from commercial contractors and local authorities for timber solutions with longer service life and lower maintenance costs.
Jack Wateridge, Director of New Forest Fencing & Gates, stated: “This investment is about continuing our 60-year commitment to quality and focusing on our future. By bringing this process in-house and at scale, we provide our commercial partners and residential customers with a more durable product and a more efficient supply chain. We are committed to being the South Coast’s most technically advanced fencing manufacturer, supplier, and installer. We are excited about our ongoing relationship with Postsaver to help get more protected posts in the ground.”
The investment strengthens Postsaver’s network of professional manufacturers and suppliers offering factory-applied rot protection. This ensures consistent quality, improved efficiency, and long-term performance benefits for contractors, merchants, and end users.
With the Pro-Shrink machine installed, NFF can now apply Postsaver sleeves directly at source. Application is accurate and uniform at the ground-line area, the part of the post most vulnerable to decay. Pre-sleeved posts provide installers with a time-saving, reliable solution while extending post service life significantly.
The Postsaver Pro-Shrink machine is designed for businesses seeking factory-applied post protection without the complexity or high cost of larger manufacturing equipment. It can sleeve up to 90 posts per hour. The machine is operable by a single user, maximising productivity while reducing labour requirements. Its plug-in-and-go design allows minimal setup, and the compact footprint makes it suitable for sites with limited floor space.
Tony Young, Head of Sales at Postsaver, commented: “Merchants and large contractors are increasingly looking for ways to offer products that add real value to their customers. New Forest Fencing & Gates’ investment demonstrates a clear commitment to quality and long-term performance. We are delighted to be working alongside them to ensure successful integration and an ongoing partnership.”
The Postsaver system uses a durable, dual-layer sleeve that forms an air- and watertight barrier around the post at ground level. This proven protection reduces premature post failure and replacement costs. By adopting this technology, NFF supports Postsaver’s mission to raise standards in timber post protection, making effective long-term solutions more widely accessible across the fencing and landscaping sectors.
The system enables NFF to deliver consistent, high-quality posts at volume. Contractors and local authorities can now receive pre-protected timber that minimises post decay. The factory-applied approach also allows for more predictable planning and installation schedules.
Installation teams benefit from time savings. Manual application of rot protectors on-site is no longer required. Safety is improved, and efficiency is maximised. Pre-sleeved posts can be delivered directly to project sites, ready for immediate use.
The partnership between NFF and Postsaver highlights a growing trend in the UK fencing industry: integrating advanced manufacturing solutions to increase product lifespan and reduce maintenance costs. Commercial and residential customers benefit from higher-quality posts. Contractors and merchants gain a more reliable supply chain.
Jack Wateridge emphasised that the company’s goal is to combine technical innovation with a long-standing commitment to quality. “Our aim is to ensure that every post leaving our factory is protected to the highest standard. The Pro-Shrink machine allows us to achieve that at scale while keeping processes efficient and installation-ready,” he said.
Through this investment, New Forest Fencing & Gates continues to strengthen its reputation as a leading fencing manufacturer on the South Coast. Factory-applied Postsaver rot protection now sets a benchmark for efficiency, quality, and long-term timber performance in the UK fencing and landscaping industry.
